Announcing our Social Impact Partner: North Brooklyn Angels!
We are thrilled to announce our partnership with North Brooklyn Angels, a volunteer-powered nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the urgent challenges faced by residents of North Brooklyn. As the community continues to evolve, North Brooklyn Angels works tirelessly to alleviate hunger, poverty, homelessness, and housing instability by organizing direct-action initiatives that make a tangible difference in the lives of local residents.
North Brooklyn Angels is driven by a simple but powerful mission: to serve the community through hands-on, impactful projects that address immediate needs. From providing hot meals to gathering essential baby supplies, this organization focuses on providing meaningful support to those who need it most. The work of North Brooklyn Angels would not be possible without the dedication of volunteers, donors, and community partners — and we are excited to join them in this important work.
Key Programs & Services
North Brooklyn Angels runs a variety of programs designed to support local families and individuals. Here are just a few of the ways they’re making a difference:
Angelmobiles – Mobile Soup Kitchen
Every week, volunteers prepare and distribute hot nutritious meals to the community. Spread between 3 “Angelmobiles”, the name of the beloved food trucks & delivery van that currently serve on average 300 meals per day, food is distributed to neighbors in need. This program is a lifeline for those facing food insecurity in the area. All meals are first-come-first-serve and available to anyone who shows up.
Angel Babies
North Brooklyn Angels collects gently used baby, children’s, and maternity items from local families and businesses. These donations are sorted and distributed 2-3 times per year to families facing financial challenges. The program ensures that parents in North Brooklyn have access to the essentials they need to care for their children.
Neighbors Giving Thanks
Every year, around Thanksgiving, nearly 100 volunteers come together for the Neighbors Giving Thanks initiative. Over the course of a week, meals and food baskets are distributed to families in need, culminating with a Thanksgiving meal for those struggling with food insecurity.
Pop-Up Green Market
During the summer and fall months, volunteers work to gather leftover produce from nearby farmers’ markets. This fresh, healthy produce is redistributed to families in need, complementing the hot meals distributed by the organization and providing additional nutritious options.
Other Special Projects
In addition to these regular programs, North Brooklyn Angels runs various special community projects and events throughout the year. These initiatives might include outreach campaigns, food drives, or volunteer-led projects that address emerging needs in the community.
Where North Brooklyn Angels Makes an Impact
The organization provides hot meals and bulk food at several locations throughout North Brooklyn. Some of the key distribution sites include:
- Cooper Park Houses Residence Council – Meals and bulk produce on Thursdays
- St. John’s Lutheran Church – Hot meals on Saturdays
- St. Anthony of Padua-St. Alphonsus Church – Meals and food distribution on Mondays and Thursdays
- Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel – Hot meals served Monday through Friday
- Iglesia de la Santa Cruz + Bushwick Abbey – Hot meals on Tuesdays
- Most Holy Trinity Church – Meals served on Fridays, also serving as a site for the Angel Babies giveaway
The Impact: North Brooklyn Angels Changing Lives
In 2022, North Brooklyn Angels had a remarkable impact on the community:
- 75,000+ hot meals were distributed across 8 different locations in North Brooklyn
- 850+ volunteers contributed over 9,000 hours of service, with more than 80% living or working in the community
- 700+ families received support through the Angel Babies program
- 200,000+ pounds of fresh food were gathered and redistributed to local families
These numbers reflect the tireless work of the organization and its volunteers — but they also highlight the real difference North Brooklyn Angels is making in the lives of local families.

Corporate Volunteering
Companies are invited to join North Brooklyn Angels’ efforts by organizing corporate volunteer shifts, such as helping prepare and package meals for the Mobile Soup Kitchen program. These opportunities can be scheduled monthly or quarterly, or your team can participate in special events like Neighbors Giving Thanks to help with meal preparation and distribution. At Like a Local, we can incorporate this volunteer work into a unique NYC Tour Experience!
Sponsorship & Partnerships
Local businesses can support North Brooklyn Angels by sponsoring specific initiatives, such as providing meal supplies or supporting special community events. Becoming a sponsor helps ensure the continued success of these programs and gives businesses an opportunity to show their commitment to the community.
Special Events
North Brooklyn Angels organizes several fundraising events each year, including the Neighbors Giving Thanks campaign and the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” luncheon. These events rely on sponsorships and volunteer participation to continue providing essential services to those in need.
Taking A Food Tour
That’s right! Simply taking our Williamsburg Bites Food Tour allows us to directly support North Brooklyn Angel’s mission with a portion of the tour proceeds going directly to the nonprofit. Your support allows us to support 25 meals for neighbors each month. We are also pleased to partner with them for a more hands-on volunteer experience for any corporate group booking with Like a Local looking for a more activism-focused team-bonding experience!
