Fueling our journey through the streets of the Lower East Side will be a custom-made “Like a Local” smoothie from Essex Squeeze. This isn’t just a healthy treat; it’s a taste of a lifelong dream for childhood friends Cedric Hernandez and Charles DeLaCruz.
Growing up together in the eclectic, inspiring Lower East Side, these two entrepreneurs always dreamed of becoming fruit vendors—a healthier type of hustle.
Charles’s passion for feeding New York City is deep-rooted. He climbed the ranks at the world-renowned Katz Deli, eventually running the daily operations as head management.
Cedric is a co-founder of the Bridge The Gap (#BTG) Running Movement and an original crewmember of the NYC Bridge Runners Crew. Since 2004, he’s been motivating New Yorkers to stay active and strengthen community bonds.
Now, they’ve been channeling their combined skills and Native NY upbringing into Essex Squeeze, aiming to provide a healthier, more sustainable option for their neighborhood. Come sip their delicious creations!
