Fifth Avenue Walking Tour Invites Public to Take a Stroll Back in Time!
OCTOBER 15, 2021: (NEW YORK, NEW YORK) — With fall in full swing and cooler weather around the corner, Like A Local Tours, a Brooklyn-based tour company, has announced the launch of its new Fifth Avenue Walking Tour. This tour is the perfect way to enjoy a change of seasons in the city, while also enjoying the rich culture and history behind one of the world’s most iconic streets.
The Fifth Avenue Walking Tour was created in partnership with the Fifth Avenue Association to give both locals and tourists the opportunity to learn the historical stories and events behind the world’s most famous retail avenue. In addition to learning about the area, tour-goers will also take in breathtaking views of the incredible mansions and buildings of a bygone era. Because of the partnership between Like A Local Tours and the Fifth Avenue Association, guests are guaranteed access to some of the most famous hotels, shops, churches and landmarks with a complete background on each!
“Since 1907, the Fifth Avenue Association has been working to ensure that Fifth Avenue is one of the most recognized streets and areas in the world. Our Fifth Avenue tour shares exactly why this area is so special, and all the hidden gems and history that go into making it such an incredible area,” said Lauren Beebe, Founder & CEO of Like A Local Tours.
Visitors of the tour will have the opportunity learn about the incredible history of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, tour the inside, take a twirl inside Saks Fifth Avenue and enjoy engaging storytelling about other famous landmarks like Rockefeller Center, Tiffany’s, Cartier, The Plaza Hotel and more.
In addition, guests will receive special access at The Pierre, including a guided visit to the historic photo gallery under the lobby, which features photos of famous guests, old menus and much more!
The tour finishes up with a stroll through Central Park and the option for a glass of wine or cocktail at Perrine, the Pierre’s gorgeous newly reopened restaurant (with outdoor dining!). Ever since The Pierre opened in 1930 it has been revered as a quintessential monument to New York City grandeur. It has served as a cornerstone of NYC glamour and fame for fashion icons, silver screen superstars, business magnates and society’s elite. The Pierre’s opulent ballrooms have been the site for celebrated movies such as Scent of a Woman, Joe vs The Volcano, Arthur, Oceans 8 and many others.
“In honor of its 90th anniversary, The Pierre has curated a collection of historical memorabilia that captures the legacy and heritage of one of New York’s most enduring landmark hotels. The walls won’t talk, but The Gallery at The Pierre tells an illustrated story of the hotel from its legendary beginnings to its enduring vision.” (Pierre Stories – Timeless Elegance.)
“The Fifth Avenue Local Tour brings to life the story behind one of the most iconic streets in the world.” said Jerome Barth, President of the Fifth Avenue Association. “Every tourist strolling down Fifth Avenue will be guided through its rich history and inspired by delightful surprises and special access to some of our most luxurious merchants. There is no better way to experience Fifth Avenue if visiting New York City this holiday season.”
In addition to running in the fall/winter, the Fifth Avenue Walking Tour will run in the evening during the holiday season to allow guests to experience all the beauty that NYC has to offer including lights, window displays and the main feature, the tree!
Tickets to the tour range from $26 (children ages 4-10) to $36 (children/adults 11 and up), children under three-years of age are free. Tickets can be purchased here. The tour lasts on average two hours, and is limited to ten persons per tour due to COVID protocol and to enhance the quality of the tour. The total walking distance of the tour is 1.5 miles.
